Who we are

GearTek Trading LLC is an IT consultancy and equipment supplier registered at Shams Business Center, Sharjah Media City Free Zone, Al Messaned, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “GearTek” refer to that company, and “you” refers to anyone visiting this website or corresponding with us through it.

We are responsible for the information described below and for deciding how it is used.

What we collect

We collect only what we need in order to answer you and to keep the site working.

What you send us through the enquiry form

Your name, company, work email address, telephone number, the service you are asking about, and the content of your message. Only name, email and message are required; the rest are optional.

What you send us by email

Anything contained in correspondence you address to us directly.

Technical information about your visit

Standard web server and analytics data — IP address, approximate location, browser and operating system, referring page, and the pages you view. This is collected in aggregate to understand how the site is used.

We do not ask for, and have no use for, payment card details, government identification numbers, or any special category data through this website.

How we use it

We use the information we hold for a small number of clearly defined purposes:

• To reply to you. Answering enquiries, preparing quotations, and discussing a potential engagement.
• To deliver work we have agreed. Where an enquiry becomes a project, to correspond with you and manage the engagement.
• To operate and improve this website. Understanding which pages are useful, diagnosing faults, and protecting the site against abuse.
• To meet our legal and regulatory obligations in the United Arab Emirates.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Where it is held

Enquiries submitted through the website are stored in this site’s own database and are also sent by email to our team. The website and its database are hosted on managed servers operated by our hosting provider. Email is handled through our business mail provider.

Some of these providers operate infrastructure outside the United Arab Emirates. Where that is the case, we rely on the provider’s own contractual data protection commitments.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where there is a reason to:

• Service providers who host this website, deliver our email, or provide website analytics, acting on our instructions.
• Professional advisers where we are obliged to take legal or accounting advice.
• Authorities where disclosure is required by applicable law.

We do not pass your details to any third party for their own marketing.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses a small number of cookies, and loads a Google tag so we can see how the site is being used. What that involves — and how to switch it off — is set out in full in our Cookie Policy.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as they are useful to the conversation they belong to, and then for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us. Where an enquiry becomes a project, the correspondence is retained for the life of the engagement and for as long as we are required to keep business records under UAE law. Aggregate analytics data is retained according to the settings of the analytics service.

If you would like us to delete an enquiry sooner, ask us and we will.

Keeping it secure

The site is served over HTTPS, kept up to date, and protected by a web application firewall. Access to enquiry records is limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of what you send us seriously and we would tell you promptly if something went wrong in a way that affected you.

Other websites

This site may link to organisations, standards bodies or suppliers we have no control over. Following such a link takes you somewhere governed by that party’s own privacy policy, not ours. We would encourage you to read it.

Your rights

Depending on where you are and which law applies, you may have the right to:

• Ask what we hold about you, and receive a copy.
• Have it corrected if it is wrong or out of date.
• Have it deleted, where we have no continuing reason to keep it.
• Object to how we use it, including for any marketing.
• Withdraw consent you have previously given, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it.

Write to us at the address at the foot of this page and we will deal with your request. We will not charge you for it, and we will not ask you to justify it.

We update this policy when our practices change or when the law requires it. The current version is always the one on this page, and the date it was last revised is shown at the top. Material changes will be reflected here rather than announced separately.
